    It's a good suggestion, but I think free period should last only for a couple of weeks.
    Suggestion: IV membership should be free for the first 3 months, after which there should be a minimum $20/per month to keep your membership and log in.
    Also at that time a member needs to update his/her profile to include contact information. This way we encourage new people to come study the issues, gain trust with IV.

    now we know the reason for my wife's RFE. They want to prove the validity of her marriage to me. We were married only for few months before we applied for I485 ( july fiasco ). My attorney had asked for few documents. Let us see how it goes.

    EB3 I is going to have a long wait. I had applied for Canadian green card and had received it. At present i have EAD and AP. Is it worthwhile to go into consular processing and work in canada or apply for a blue card or think about Australia. If this sounds okay how should i proceed.

    What is your PD? Your profile says you are July Filer and your labor approval date is in 2008. Maybe a typo? I think if your PD is before 2003 for EB-3 I, there is hope of getting GC by end of 2010. Otherwise, it could be a really long wait without any legislative changes.

    Dude, You might be a new entry in to the ball of Immigration now. As said earlier , every one is free to judge and post the queries. If IV is shutting door of any questions you wouldnt have seen forum threads. There is enough discussion and direction taken on information being released to ALL members. Why one should complain IV not doing anything ?

    here are some atleast, immaterial you agree or not:

    1. If ppl are reaping benefits of EAD for multiple years , its becoz of IV.
    2. whole of July fiasco was a win becoz of IV , not sure whether you are in the boat, but i can see the pain and how IV helped all of us.
    3. all the admin fixes were co-ordinated by IV ,
    4. The list goes on.. those 3 above are just enough to prove the help an ORGANIZATION did with minimal resources. Also please note none of the core are full time IV , they are also ppl like you and me.

    Reason one has donor forum is becoz they are trusted sources. How can one know that you are pro-immigrant or anti-immigrant.

    You would see dialy or minutes updates on sites of anti-immigrants becoz they have dedicated members and number base is too high.

    Again , no one is shutting door against you, looking at your post i see you are shutting door against yourself just becoz your idea of Fax through AILA is not acceptable as an IV agenda.

    Do you know first of all what provisions in CIR 2007 were in there which would have broke the back of ppl on H1 and potential immigrants? Can you confirm which provisions of CIR 2009 if there be one will help you ? will you support CIR even if it says you have to go back to india in no time ? AILA never mentioned in first place whether it would support EB community.

    Plain simple, we pay Dollars even to newspaper ... You dont want to contribute for your own cause but get info for free and prove that will raise for your own cause. Those newsletters are for your benefit and collectively for the whole community.

    Still IV is posting info to non-paying members , IV Never shuts its door but with limited resources they are doing what they can. Before complaining on IV you do your part. :cool:

    Also , FYI... AILA doesnt post all messages to free members .. all the critical info is circulated via PAID members of AILA.. this is part of any organization ... Can you complain against AILA, becoz if you are FREE member of AILA you still get emails like the one reg. Fax to CIR... There is a lot going in background for CIR than many of us even know...


    Paskal, You are right - I do not understand. But mostly I cannot understand because as an organisation - you do not explain. Frankly, all I can do is register my disappointment at both your response and your attitude.While I get it that IV is actively involved in doing things over the years aimed at resolving this issue, I might feel that I could respect and maybe even understand these efforts better if IV kept its website up to date and all members who sign in updated on what's happening.

    I have often seen threads on this site that have members complaining that IV is not doing anything - to which invariably the response is that one should join the donor forum. On the other hand we get newsletters from admin that ask up to tighten our belts etc. - and get more involved. Well, that cannot happen unless IV provides more updated information on what IV is actually doing, veiled references to behind the scenes activity and years of hard work are not enough to involve all those who have signed up here to become 'more involved'.

    As for this discussion going nowhere I could not agree more - you see to have an open discussion or indeed debate - there must be at least 2 willing participants. And since you have already decided that you do not have time for the Qs of a mere non-paying member of this forum, I do not expect any better.

    By the way, the way ahead is not to close doors, but to welcome questions and encourge those on this forum with curiosity to be more active. More often than not, I have seen that those who Q on this forum, are mocked, ignored, and treated as if they are wasting CORE's time. Sad for a forum that hopes to involve a wider audience in this issue.

    hey zelda, that aint crap just needs a little bit of work, as grinch above me said, try getting out your marquee tools and cutting out the shapes instead of using the eraser, that will give you the crisp lines you will want for the "pad" and the "screen" and try and get your image all the way to the edge of the ipod. then it will look super cool!!

    Can we have some kind of time line that IV core/lobbying firm has knowledge of about S .9 and what might or will happen in March, just in another 15 days.

    If I call the IV number, can we get the future time line.

    My GUESS is that, it would take same time (if not more) for S9 as it would take for the IRAQ issue in Senate and House.

    I think if it wasn�t for the IRAQ fiasco we would have had our issues resolved a year back.

    And the start of S9 won�t happen till IRAQ issue is resolved/voted/rejected in senate or house.

    I think the biggest hurdle for S9 would be the request by Democrats to DUBYA to provide certain number of votes from Republicans. Democrats do not want to put there neck on the line for immigration issue. In other words if it comes to party line voting S9 is probably on the fence, and most likely to not pass.

    H1B problems have nothing to do with retrogression.

    If H1B employees are being mistreated by a certain class of employers, then what does that have to do with shortage of visa numbers?

    Nothing.

    Misuse and abuse of H1B program did not cause retrogression. And if the abuse ends, its not going to end retrogression. The H1B program does provide ammunition to anti-immigrants to use that paint-brush and paint the entire program of H1B and Employment based GC as bad. Fortune 500 companies dont engage in unethical behavior. The TCS, Wipro etc maybe do that. Small bodyshops certainly do that. I am yet to see a small body-shop, operated by a citizen of foriegn origin, working by the book and treating employees well.

    But all said and done, these things make our life more difficult and exacerbate the situation that arose from retrogression. However, these things didnt cause retrogression.

    At the most, these issues of H1B abuse may have provided support to some groups in keeping the H1B quota down. However, it has nothing to do with EB quota. In fact, IEEE-USA advocates bringing down H1B quota and RAISING the employment based GC quota, in order to remove factors that encourage employer abuse.

    U have the point.

    These issues are not causes for retrogression, but these issues make it difficult to fix retrogression.

    IV moderators and members must not encourage things like "ABC company not paying bench salary for my wife though he took 3k from me to file for h1 and is holding her paystubs etc"" These are the things that will make it difficult to fix retrogression - in these kind of situations it is both employer and employee at fault.

    Exactly same thing is going on with me, getting a soft LUD almost every day! (to be precise three times since they received my RFE response). Not sure what's going on?
    Ok here is my experience,
    had a hard LUD and received RFE for 325A and birth certificates,
    Replied to RFE - USCIS received the mail on the 8th, same day in the evening, received a hard LUD saying, RFE response received and is under process.
    Till today, I have been seeing soft LUD on our case, I dont know what is going on !!!

    We are victims as well. From 2001 to 2005 were waiting for Labor, they processed applications from April 2001 for three years (!?) and started from April 2005 we are in FBI name check . Coworkers applying in 2007 getting GC. If there any action in NY, I will be happy to participate.

    talked to my attorney and he did get 1 or 2 applications back from USCIS. but he is not sure whether it is from July 2nd filers or after that.

    My wife appeared for Visa interview on 6th and yet to receive the passport. we booked tickets for this weekend and seems we have to reschedule. I sent a mail to NIV and no response as of now.This is of concern. can anyone tell me about the normal turnaround time for H4 Visas these days?

    I think USCIS must meet the EB convertors somewhere mid-way to maintain fairness.

    About gctest, what has pissed me off so consistently is his trash-talk, calling EB3 third grade workers, his utterly self-centered attitude and inability to see other side of the story. Over and above that he is a lying, cheating bastard who changes his story all the time.

    angelfire, before you go and make such a determination, please do understand the root cause of the issue.

    EB3-I processing is stalled, especially after USCIS opened the floodgates and let everyone inside one time.
    Folks who were waiting patiently had their clocks turned backwards and pushed at the end? Classic case of starvation.

    Upshot - some with older EB3 PDs have ported their dates, after qualifying for senior positions based on their academic credentials and job experience and getting jobs under EB2.

    Which is why see an odd 2002 EB2 PD suddenly appearing from nowhere and getting ahead of you.

    How many are actually converting?
    humongous EB3 number stuck in 2002-2003.
    handful people actually converting due to risks involved.


    That EB3 people should not be made to start from scratch all over again, however they should also not be given the advantage of a loophole in the system. We all knew the evil of LC sub and this is something similar to it.
    However I do sympathize with the sense of desperation and hopelessness that people in EB3 feel when they don't see a light at the end of the tunnel.

    There will always be condescending comments made by people on the other side of the tracks. Heck, I've heard some comments that completely put me off from taking part in IV and helping people who already have EAD (I missed the July 2007 orgy). But it is what it is, we either sink or swim together. If you see how many characters in Indian MNCs take advantage of the EB1 MNC executive category, you will be apalled.

    Ignore and focus on what needs to be done would be my advice as everything somebody who is not a decision maker in the path to immigration is inconsequential.

    I agree with this part. The moment employer knows that job offer is no longer valid, he should withdraw h1. Since he did not do that, it would work agsinst him.

    Dol only understands two dates approval date and date of withdrawal.

    To me this employer looks more stu**d than evil.
