Nothing significant is expected from this speech. Most politicians repeat the same 3 things- Secure our borders, provide path to citizenship to millions and welcome best and the brightest. The real question is when they will do the real work on immigration. There have been some discussions on administrative fixes on immigration. However some of these fixes would politically harm democrats in the upcoming elections.
Only when the democratic party weakens things can move forward for the skilled (EB- GC ) folks. Democratic party is never for skilled immigratiion, it is all for illegal masses only.

Bailouts from Arabian princes & Chinese govt. didnt do much squat to push the economy. A few immigrants buying houses (which again is gonna be tough to get loans approved in the 1st place) is gonna do much less good.
The US economy needs a deep cleanse. Which means all the bad news has to come out once & for all. No more Congress sanctioned hush ups for irregularities at Fannie Mae etc etc.
The US as a whole needs to rebuild the faith of the rest of the world, both politically & economically. It has now been clearly established that US is not a political & economical superpower that it once was.

Was there a bill to create this category or this was decision taken by the USCIS.
Its a good move, I know that this initiative was started by an Officer from US Army whose interpreter was getting death threats for helping the US. When he saw that it was not an isolated incidence he started lobbying the state department to create a separate category. I have been following that story for a couple of months, but was not aware that a bill was passed to create a new category or visas. (i am sure, that USCIS cannot take a unilateral decision to add more visas or else why would we be begging for recapture bills)

I think that is an Open category and anyone who can show that their life is in danger in their Homeland can apply...For Iraq, since tehre are too many, they may be limiting 5K per year...

Hi,
My EAD renewal was filed in TSC in the middle of June. Now it is more than 2 months I haven't heard anything from them. I wonder do they request for FP during EAD renewal ? When I applied for EAD first time in 2007 there was no request for FP and the EAD was approved without FP. But I have seen several posts where folks mentioned that they have got FP notification after they filed their EAD renewal. I have done one FP beginning of 2008 as part of my AOS filed on July 2, 2007. So, I wonder do I receive another FP notification as part of my EAD renewal or USCIS can use my existing FP (they may have in their system) ?

Since, last august DOL has become weird with even approving eb3 labors. Generally, attornies will put language in the eta 9089 that they will accept three years of experience for each year of bachelors degree missing (this is in line with education evaluators and uscis).
These days USCIS is trying to stick to the rules, so all people who are trying to beat the system by using wrong credentials are getting stuck. Lawyers have nothing to lose, they will make more money from you.....one from your eb3 application and two from your high risk eb2 application which will eventually be rejected.

Thanks for coming forward to help this cause. Your contribution, words of support and enthusiasm helps everybody to maintain higher level of motivation which is so important for this kind of volunteer effort . Thank You.
We also need more active members in Miami as it is a huge city. Would you like to take up the responsibility to post the flyers in Chinese/Indian/Philipino stores or other places where people from these or other immigrant community gathers? Or maybe simply send out emails to send the same message to your friends. It is ok if there is any constraint.

She is actively sending email to friends and relatives to join IV. Also, we are planing to visit universities around our area during this weekend and post flyers

It also invites additional I-485filings with eligible PD's. In an effort to finish with leftover visas in September, USCIS might move cutoff dates upto July 07, but not beyond. They know, doing that will get them more I-485 filings for which they are not prepared.
Let us see what comes out for September. If there is a big movement, as in the past, some lucky ones will get GC ahead of others.

Guys,
I efiled my AP on 9/5/10 @NSC and it was approved today after requesting expediting on 10/5/10 based on financial loss, I have a business transaction back home for which i need to be present and provided all supporting documentation related to that.
This is what is think is more effective than contacting senators/Ombudsman for expediting, resend all the I-131 supporting documentation,proof of emergency/loss, 2 photos and include a cover letter with bold colorful fonts requesting expediting to the same address you sent your app earlier (btw, i used the USCIS center courier address and not PO Box address), i believe this way your app goes to the officer quicker and he has all the documents needed to approve your case right away if you qualify for expediting, i have used this process more than once and know it works at least for me....you have tried other methods, why not try this as well!

As somebody said above, if we r getting married after Aug 17, and if we decide not to file my 485 now. My PD is May 2007 and my 140 would be approved before my H1B is expired for the second term, and if I didn't file my 485 by then, what kind of H1B extensions would I get ?? 1 year or 3 years.

Yes, the EB2I pre-Apr 2003 approvals have slowed down considerably, USCIS cannot keep clearing backlogs forever if there aren't many backlogs to begin with.
Now they will spend the entire Nov without too many EB2-I cases to deal with and then Dec visa bulletin see a long jump. Its a waste of precious processing time.
I am bored of this yo-yo.
In Dec DOS will move the EB2I date to april 01, 06. And USCIS exhaust the visa number by approving the 06 cases and retrogress back to april 01, 03.
And whoever has the 03 and 04 PDs will be screwed as usual.:mad:

Current heavy retrogression is NOT because of the shortage of visa numbers.

Who ever go for testifying before congress should hightlight the USCIS mis use of VISA numbers during 2004 and 2005 by approving all latest cases and even though there are pending old cases
