To all those who are advising Mr. thunderbolt to not do anything and keep looking into their son's eyes for the rest of their lives thinking.... "I let someone beat you up when you were an infant and didn't do jack"... here is another one.
Say, instead you had a daughter who is about 9 yrs old. You hired some Indian dude on tourist visa to mow your lawn & you hire this dude coz he charges way less.One day, you witness this dude violating your daughter physically.
What do you do now? Is this situation different. The baby situation is worse.
I have no kids yet, but it pisses me off that people here would let a child abuser get away coz it might interfere with their american dream.

Its a pity that we are engaging in such talk & encouraging him. We should not entertain this guy here. Just ignore him & let his thread not come up. And as for results, we will see our strength on Sept 18th.
We all know our strengths & talents & skills. We don't need to give any clarifications to him.

We have 29 contributors + anurakt's challenge
There may be others that paid and did not post,
some members have been doing that
Good progress- the drought for contributions to iv is hopefully over,
but we are not there yet. We need EVERY active member to contribute at least $20, remember there are not that many active people here.
It's very encouraging to see that some of the contributions are from recent members. Maybe pappu can let us know at some point how much this campaign has collected so far.
If you are reading this and still watching from the sidelines: please join us. Contribute and add members. IF we are ALL involved, success will come. it's just a matter of time and patience.
Thank you all for responding generously so far, please encourage all other members to do the same, post on other threads if needed, and spread the word to those who are not members.

Anyways, not sure why you are so hung up on the person being illegal so she deserves what she got line. You may have to step back and look at what the larger trend here is. You and I can be the next target (see slippery slope article below).
Here are the underlying reasons for the outrage apart from the basic indecency of shackling a pregnant woman:

Somebody in this forum was pointing out how the majority here seem to favor illegal immigrants. Let me point out that Apraio was elected democratically in 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008. Apparently voters in his county have a different point of view about illegal immigrants and have no problems voting him again repeatedly.
