I must say y'all are doing a commendable job. I have contributed $$ and would do so more in the future if needed.
I remember Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist saying that the comprehensive immigration reform bill will be handled in February 2006. Is the schedule still the same. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hope that everyone of us stuck in this immigration hell-hole will get a relief from the comprehensive immigration reform bills that (hopefully) will be passed in 02/06.

It is told that most of the July 2 filings are waiting, but July 17 filings have received RN. Perhaps it all depends where USCIS folks put bundles of applications initially meant for rejection/return. I am also one of the July 2 filers still waiting
OR MAY be... (just an another option).. that our application (jinxed stack of application recd. on 2nd july 2007) are still lying in the janitorial dept or may be quarantine dept. .. you never know..

Hard to tell. FBI nor USCIS has ever published demographic information on name checks. Out of 1 million USC and and 1 million or so green cards some of them get stuck in name check. Indians and Chinese don't make up more than 10% of these people yet, most of the name check complaints on the web are from these two groups. It is hard to say if this means these are the most affected groups because many family category immigrants may not be very educated and articulate and may not be petitioning the government and being proactive. So it is very hard to say if one or the other group is more or less affected. You can however look up the below link and form an opinion yourself from the 4000 odd signatures of people stuck in name check:

This is my view about how USCIS has messed up in name check delays.
Name check PROGRAM that they might be using takes into account phoenetic spelling of FIRST and LAST NAME. Now just imagine, if your name is broken into 100 different spelling combinations and when your entire BIRTH YEAR IS checked against the databse--it will be surprising if there are no HITS. And to resolve those hits, pre-1995 records needs to be serached manually. There is no responsibility or time commitment by FBI or USCIS for the delay.
This might be true for Asian names. The argument is-- the names in the databse are translations and therefore, they need to check accordingly.
I BET they are not doing this for AMERICAN names, I mean for passport approval, they do not apply phoenetic program. I remember that FBI testimony included the discussion that they have set up appropriate filters for passport applicants (american citizens) so that unnecessary hits are avoided. Now this is my view and a discussion point. I may be wrong too.
In effect, Indian and Chinese professionals are deprived of immigration benefits.
Equally controversial is per country limitations in EB categories. If you do not select based on country of origin, you should not be subjected to per country limits because you are working for an american company and you are going to be american. Any demographic adjustment need to be made in diversity visa lottery.

This is what he did. He attached the new I 94 that I got at the POE and which shows my status as Parole till 01/22/2007. He has however sent the old h1 approval notice as well showing my h1 valid till 06/01/2007. He ia rushing my h1 ext application so that it reaches the USCIS office on 01/22/2007 the day my parole expires. This system is really confusing dude!!!

What's ridiculous about it? Their website say's that you can call any number in India ( land line or cellular ) for free and unlimited time. It clearly says - * Calls to cellular phones included.

You are on the right track....Again no need to thank me....the help in the forum is mutual...I had gained strength from it and I'll reciprocate in every possible way...I am not one to vanish from the forum once I am done and see you guys waiting......well experience with USCIS is like a psychological trauma...it stays long and being a scorpio I can't forget things at all especially injustices....So I'll be there along the way for all you guys....and help you in whatever way I can......
That being said every case is different and gloom and doom scenario should not take over your spirits....I am a cynic by birth and see the glass always half empty but once thing that is different for me is that I never give up......and neither should any of you guys however bad the situation is....be a cynic be a pessimist be a paranoid if you can't help but BE PERSISTENT and UNRELENTING...

OK I will help in the research.. but this is what I have seen.. all the lawyers are just advising or strongly advising.. no one has metioned why one should NOT do multiple applications, the only reason I have heard so far is that multiple applications (4 - if both the spouses apply for each other as dependents) may cause confusion in allocating the A# and that may lead to problems and complications and eventual delays....
but both me and my wife already have A#'s so does that mean that there wont be any confusion as uscis need not allot A#'s for us.....

They haven't mentioned there whether dependents are included or not. So multiplying by 2.1 is probably not correct nor wrong at this point. I would think dependents are included in this. Everybody needs to file an I-485 I presume and they are just counting the pending ones.

The USCIS has said this this is the number of pending I-485s, so it does include pending dependent I-485s. They don't have to specifically mention "dependents are included,"because dependents do file separate forms I-485 when the primary applicant files his/her own. Thank you. :-)

tracker site data is fake....... tracker site has employees sitting in India...... those employees create fake ids and fake profiles....... then they write post using those fake ids to create an impression that there are lot of people posting on the tracker site...... if you look at title of most threads...... they are framed in the manner that will be inviting most others to write on the thread.......... every few days these employees sitting in India..... using a fake profile ........ start a new thread with a title something like .... 'i got it i got it ' or ' i am green' or something similar..... and using other fake ids the same bunch of employees ask fake questions from op..... who is also a fake handle...... so the data there is totally fake..... that data represents the need of the tracker site to make people to come to their site...... that data does not represent the sample data...... not even close.....

And if its really NOT PIMS and something else, then how long does one estimate ?? how long could an administrative processing take ? how long could security check take ? how long could name check take ? etc etc..

Do I have to file I-485 though a lawyer or can I do it myself. I have an old I-485 form that my lawyer filled out and he sent me a copy of but he never filed it to immigration. Can I update that old form he gave me and file an updated I-485 myself without a lawyer??
