First of all, they cannot ask you for you work authorization during the interview process. Second, even during hiring time, they can only ask you if you need sponsorship for H1 or not. If at this point you say no, then they have no business asking you for what kind of work authorization you have (unless the job specifically asks for US citizen or security clearence).

MY friend just spoke to Lingo, they are coming up a cheaper(may be $1 or $2 cheap) plan with unlimited to India/China and 101 countries and also can be used from a registered cellphone incase you do not have internet for any reason.
So, wait for couple of weeks and then choose the right one.

Hello, I can understand your pain as I was in a similar situation as you are. I would recommend to wait for atleast 2 weeks. I interviewed on 28th Dec and finally got the email on 9th Jan and the pp stamped on 10th Jan and took the flight on 12th Jan.
If you have an upcoming travel which is in next week, please try to reschedule it as it is not certain on how much time does it take in such cases.
I do not think getting the employer involved into this will help. VFS office will have no clue on this and they will answer only Questions on the process. Writing to the US consulate will also give you a general answer. It is sad that there is no accountability in cases like these. Please keep the faith.

The OP is great. He has created a new id to discuss L1 fraud. Will he be creating one id per issue... recapture, H1B abuse, outsourcing, backlogs?? wow!!!
Not sure why he wants his/ her identity covered up. This shows how good some of us are in trying to make noises in the dark and not doing anything about issues in hand.
In all, I still don't understand why L1Bs cannot work at Client site. I am sure that the L1 petitions specifically ask for Client site / work location. If Client site address is mentioned, the USCIS does approve the petition. If it is against law, they will not approve the petition. I know this for a fact since some of my friends are on L1.
Regarding my identity cover up... I have mentioned couple of times abt the seriouness of the situation as the other party is a multi billion dollar organisation, second please add all the reasons why ICE/USCIS/DOL provides anonymity and whitsle bowler protection to people who brings these kind of violations to their notice.
Regarding working at client site... Yes they do get approved for working at client sites BUT with the condition that they would be working directly under the suprevision of their managers and NOT the client managers (they don't qualify for consulting assignments). Also these L-1B visas are approved for working on speciality skills NOT on common technical skills (like java/.net/DBs/Prod Support etc). Next time read your friends L-1B petition carefully and you could find all these details over there.. also verify the L1 reform act of 2004 (published in this thread).
Regarding retrogression... I agree that L-1B visas are not impacting the same much and also I think if someone in L-1A LEGALLY qualifies for EB-1 there is nothing wrong in getting the GC, If we think thats not appropriate then we should bring this upto the law makers and get it rectified BUT fake EB1s should be notified to authorities.
We are fighting against a fraudulant activity by which our jobs (and hence our GCs) are jeopardized and its not a fight against fellow immigrant BUT a fight against the greed of these corporates to make money even by committing such fraudulant activities.. hope this clears the doubt.

I just contacted my senator's local office .working on the letters now .Thanks IV for coming up with this wonderful initiative..I hope our community gathers around and works together to make this a success , please put bickering and cynicism to rest for sometime and work pro actively on this new IV action item..

Unfortunately the Timing of IV Advocacy day, and also May 2011 VB schedule at a wrong date. If the Govt Shutdown due to the budget deadlock, I'm not sure how both of these days will play out. Any Idea guys. :confused:

If there is someone who can do my job cheaper or better or more efficiently - by all means it should go to him. I need to then find something where I am good at. Thats what competition is! If the post is true and from real world person, then the OP and his sponsor are in violation of the Law. The L1B are not supposed to be based/hosted in client location unless specifically stated in the approved petition. Defiantly not supposed to do in case of blanket L1B.

Let me add my 2cents here.
This came up when I was discussing this topic with my lawyer friend -
Person can still file for GC when he/she is at school in eb3 and after finishing school, he/she can file another one for EB2 and can port the date to earlier PD, just like eb3 person who started work instead of going to school. Remember, GC is for the future job and person can not claim that he/she needs to be employed in order for GC to be filed.
Law does provide equal opportunity to both for PD recapture (aka PD porting).

Remember: NumbersUSA faxed the senate offices one million times when CIR was being considered. We have to do more than them this time, as they are twisting the facts (Same way Mr. Dobbs of CNN does): Here is a quote from Numbers USA website:
