Wouldn't it be nice if he could speak for the peaceful rally in protest of USCIS in San Jose... Just a thought...
I'd be surprised if Arnie is anti-immigration considering he is an immigrant himself.

I want to move from reliance to airtel or trueroots before deciding on vonage. Can someone tell me as how good is airtel 1c/min offer? hows the quality to india and other countries?
Thanks
Airtel call quality is really good and it's cheap compare to reliance....I stopped using reliance almost 3 years......if you pay 9.99+taxes will give you 600 minutes talk time and 45 days validity...I also used for australia and singapore, call quality was great...never had any problems...

Dobbs attacks 'corporate supremacists' (http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20071208/news_lz1ed8bottom.html) UNION-TRIBUNE EDITORIAL, Dec 8, 2007
Lou Dobbs says he doesn't like name-calling especially when the names are aimed at him and include protectionist or nativist.
Yet, as regular viewers know, the CNN host can slander with the best of them. His latest term of art: corporate supremacists.
In the world according to Dobbs, those are the rich and powerful business interests that are constantly conspiring against the interests of hard-working Americans in the middle class. For the most part, the plotting takes the form of pushing trade agreements and supporting sensible and comprehensive immigration reform. According to Dobbs, those things serve the interests of big business but undermine the interests of the rest of us.
So wealthy corporations are out to crush middle-class Americans?
What nonsense. Those are the same Americans that corporations depend on to build their labor force, buy their stock and purchase their products. If these Americans don't do well, our economy falters. And that's not good for corporations, or anyone.
Nor is childish and irresponsible rhetoric good for public discourse or the country as a whole.
This is the world's healthiest economy, and a country with just 4.7 percent unemployment. Of course, there is anxiety, as there always is in a global economy with so many unknowns. As the world changes, it's only natural for Americans to feel some unease.
Shows like Dobbs' don't help. By providing Americans with convenient foils to blame for their troubles from illegal immigrants to the Chinese to now those dreaded corporate supremacists Dobbs makes it easy for Americans to escape the consequences of their own life choices. No wonder that message is popular. It's easier to blame someone or something for your problems than to do the hard work necessary to solve them.
Gee, where did we leave that remote control?

All we need is just 233,816(page 2) visas(forget about country limit, EB category etc). In that case in 2 years we will have 280,000(140,000 * 2) visas. So should we all get GC in two years with that logic.
If only USCIS can think along those lines. :confused:

Customer service: Not good
Contract is the killing part.
After tax, lingo and vonage prices are about the same.
If you haven't signed up for the service yet, sign up for vonage.

Dear Sir,
Many thanks for your interesting email, which I forwarded to a colleague based in the United States.
I understand it must be hard for somebody in your situation. But anecdotal evidence and statistics suggest that however hard life is for immigrants in the United States, it's even harder for immigrants in Europe.

I have two approved I-140 (NIW/TSC 06/2006 and EB1A/NSC 07/2009) and a
pending I-485/TSC from 2007. I went infopass two weeks ago, and was told
that my I-485 was pre-adjudicated and assigned to IO on 08/2009. The
infopass officer kindly sent an e-mail to my IO requesting for update.
Yesterday, I received a letter saying "We are actively processing this case.
However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has
caused a longer processing time. If you do not receive a decision or other
notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please call
customer service at the number provided below."
Does anyone received a similar letter? Is it just some letter or some problem
with my case. I have been in this country for 11 years, used up all 6 years
of H1b, renewed EAD three times, and tried service request, called IO, wrote
to Senators/first lady. Not sure what else I can do...
Rongch60,

I got 6 months wait letter too. My wife (Dependent) for 60 days letter.

i filled up #7001 form and also E.mailed a follow up letter today.

If you get different A#s then definitely there is a possibility of delays in the application.
I am not sure what happens with namechecks. Need to research further. My guess is you will have double chances of getting stuck in namechecks! This assumption is based on the fact that multiple filers need to undergo fingerprinting and background checks multiple times and thus chances of getting stuck in namechecks must also increase for them.
i heard from my lawyer that we shoud combine them...will talk to him again on Friday...lets see wat he suggests...
does anybody know the process of combining or withdrawing one set....

SA 3275. Mr. LEVIN submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill H.R. 3093, making appropriations for the Departments of Commerce and Justice, and Science, and Related Agencies for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2008, and for other purposes; as follows:
At the appropriate place, insert the following:
SEC. __. ANNUAL REPORT ON DELAYED BACKGROUND CHECKS.
(a) In General.--Not later than 60 days after the end of each fiscal year, the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation shall submit a report to the congressional committees listed in subsection (b) that contains, with respect to the most recently completed fiscal year--
(1) a statistical analysis of the number of background checks processed and pending, including check requests in process at the time of the report and check requests that have been received but are not yet in process;
(2) the average time taken to complete each type of background check;
(3) a description of the efforts and progress made by the Director in addressing any delays in completing such background checks; and
(4) a description of the progress that has been made in automating files used in the name check process, including investigative files of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
(b) Recipients.--The congressional committees listed in this subsection are--
(1) the Committee on the Judiciary of the Senate;
(2) the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs of the Senate;
(3) the Committee on the Judiciary of the House of Representatives; and
(4) the Committee on Homeland Security of the House of Representati
This does not go far enough to solve the problem. A lot more work is needed to get an immediate fix to the problem.

There are laws and there are exceptions. Basically there are no Laws when it comes to Immigration. USCIS/DOS can do whatever they like.
Look at Jul'2007, people with EB3 PD of 2004 got approved and people with 2001 are still waiting.
Look at EB2 approvals these days. People with 2006 PD are getting approved and people with 2004 PD are still waiting.
Can somebody explain how PD in each VB goes backward? Is it possible to get new applications with older PD in between? Don't they have computers with all the data where they can see how many applications are pending?
Howcome they were giving unused numbers to EB3 till last year and how come they changed the interpretation this year. The rule didn't change, they simply changed their interpretation of it.
If EB3 would have known about this new interpretation then they would have never applied in EB3 category.
Bottomline is there are no rules. USCIS/DOS is doing whatever they like and playing with our life. Nobody knows how many applications are pending. Nobody can predict the VB movement, it goes forward and backward. We cann't plan our lives and live in limbo all the time.

As a hypothetical example (because vehicle prices always depreciate, so please ignore the reality), let's say you bought that Gas guzzling SUV at 50k and now suddenly after 2 years, due to whatever reason, you go and try to sell the same SUV to the same dealer and he quotes you 5k. Wouldn't you fault that dealer for selling you the same thing at 50k when the actual value of the same asset 2 year back was 5k (but he sold you at 50k and you have only paid back 10k in monthly installments until now). Who is to blame for that 35k deficit? You? Forget the monthly payments here and concentrate on the actual asset value.
You forgot that dealer is also making 5K for the SUV that he bought from manufacturer for $50,000. In the end everyone lost 35K. So dealer will loose multiples 35K based on how many SUV he has in his inventory. You might suggest he should go to the manufacturer ?
What you are saying is unprecedented, it has never happened I don't know why are you so convince that it someone else's fault. You are living with a very simplistic and naive idea about the world and you are convinced that's the way of life. Not only that, you are trying to convince others of that. From what I know and seen what you suggest doesn't work and refusal to accept a problem only deepens it.
Peace :)

It is because of people like you USA is losing is competitive edge.
The only americans you know are the ones you see on TV. Most likely you are confined in an apartment with 10 others. by the offshore company. Do you want me to add more stereotypes here as you just did? because it is very easy to do.
No wonder otherwise tolerant americans are turning against the so called "skilled workers" from India.

It is not popular to say so but I have this doubt too.
Currently at least there is no requirement to notify and you only need to prove you still have a similar job OFFER (not necessarily working) if and when there is an RFE.
Only good thing happened to us in last decade, as far as I can remember, is AC21 and concurrent filing.
All these immigration laws are designed to keep us indebted/bonded to the employer. They might see this as a liberating provision and try to chain us back. This may or may not happen, but just my paranoid reaction,.
Hope AC21 don't go away like labor substitution has. :(
i don't what is the problem you have with AC21? it works just fine and nobody has a problem with it.
if you ask them to mess with it, and it seems to have no problem, they will either make it worse or take it away.
i think you guys are far too risk averse and want everything guaranteed in black and white. it does not work that way and we are not so important in the scheme of things anyway.

8 USC 1324b
(a)(1) General rule
It is an unfair immigration-related employment practice for a person or other entity to discriminate against any individual (other than an unauthorized alien, as defined in section 1324a (h)(3) of this title) with respect to the hiring, or recruitment or referral for a fee, of the individual for employment or the discharging of the individual from employment
(A) because of such individuals national origin, or
(B) in the case of a protected individual (as defined in paragraph (3)), because of such individuals citizenship status.
(3) Protected individual defined
As used in paragraph (1), the term protected individual means an individual who
(A) is a citizen or national of the United States, or
(B) is an alien who is lawfully admitted for permanent residence, is granted the status of an alien lawfully admitted for temporary residence under section 1160 (a) or 1255a (a)(1) of this title, is admitted as a refugee under section 1157 of this title, or is granted asylum under section 1158 of this title;
(4) Additional exception providing right to prefer equally qualified citizens
Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, it is not an unfair immigration-related employment practice for a person or other entity to prefer to hire, recruit, or refer an individual who is a citizen or national of the United States over another individual who is an alien if the two individuals are equally qualified.
So EAD folks are excluded from "protected individuals" and employer has a right to prefer US citizens according to this.

At present my EAD is status not changed (USCIS case tracking), So I assume my EAD is valid. I also read Attorny Ron's blog that EAD is valid even I485 is denied. That gives me some comfort. Another problem, even if I get H1b (with out I94), I don't have AP to go (out of country) for stamping. What happens if I apply for AP while I485 is denied? Any one tried this? I am not sure what to do...
