I dont know too much about the conflict but the first post on the site says this:

So thats just somebody's interpretation of letter campaign. Yes this has the potential to affect everyone - look at today's main news - 240k more jobs are lost and prediction that economy can get much more worse. The last thing we want in these times is another GC/visa related issue at back of our minds. This is the time to act before its too late.

Also, does anyone remember where the I-485 was mailed? NSC or TSC? From what I remember it was based on what state you lived in when I-485 was filed.

Yes, it was based on the State you lived. One other thing, you may want to check with Customer Service, since when are you have been actually considered a PR. If they have considered you as a PR since 2008, it is good for you, you will be able to apply for Citizenship sooner

Yes, They assured me that the plan is for unlimited...also covers all the networks (Initiall y some of them thought that it's only applicable for certain networks)....there is no restrictions at all...any ways I will re confirm with them.....
The only problem with them are taxes, there are other VOIP phones in the market that they are charging just 3-4 dollars as taxes, whereas vonage is charging more than 8 dollars which is killing part.....

H1 quota will be over on day 1 also started as a rumor ..however USICS quickly jumped and clarified how they will handle the situation ..i hope the same this time also .
Only intresting thing is will they accept applications on day 1 and cover their skin ?...Then no body can question DOS/USICS as they always had a reason to defend themself....Guys what ever happens if you can file today thats fine else ..do use fedex same day service and make sure the application will reach b4 5 on monday

If the job required a EB2 or EB3 but EB3 was filed earlier. Is that possible?
for the same job position it should not be possible. When the employer filed in EB3, the employer must have provided all documentation necessary to justify the EB3 status. If now, the employer has to go back and indicate that the job requirement matched EB2 status, then that indicates something was not done right during the earlier application. That could right away trigger a RFE.

We got our GC cards on Friday.
It seems that USCIS is processing cases which have been pre-adjudicated very fast.
Good luck to all who have been waiting... there is definately light at the end of the tunnel

We heard so many stories about violation many Indian bodyshoppers like bench without pay,Low pay ,fake resumes and many more. But when any bill comes to control them we are opposing. Because we fear that we may be one of the persons working in those companies and may be impacted by that.
Certainly the bill is not a pro immigrant and anti immigrant bill. But some kind of restriction is needed to clean out H1b. I accept as a pro immigrant we have to oppose any anti immigrant bill. So I am sure IV will try to block the bill as they did the restriction in TARP.
I am not going to get any benefit if they shut the door behind me. I need just one job that I can get any time and whatever compettion and there is no need to shut thousands of people. So my views are not based on any personal ambition.
I am seeing some positives in the bill. Wages will increase for the H1bs also. Only genuine companies can do the business. Best and bright people will not be impacted by this. Also it can open opportunity to increase H1b Cap and Green card Cap. So there is a good possiblity to reduce or eliminate retrogession.
Basically there are two options for IV and other pro immigrants if the bill is considered serously. One is just oppose the bill and try to block completely. Or other option is to negotiate to include our agenda to recapture/increase GC and also to modify the portions of bill. Instead of failing with option 1 getting success in option 2 is better.
I think this bill will not be passed if it is against WTO trade regulations.
I totally agree with you. H1b and employment based GC's are so intertwined that they are almost inseparable. For example, you can get H1b extension based on your pending/approved PERM labor or your approved I-140 application. So, any change to H1b will in some way impact the GC process. I'm all for closing the loop holes in H1b provided certain reforms are also made in the EB green card process- like removing per country quotas and may be give EAD upon I-140 approval.

Is there some master list of companies that have been filed against ? Do you know of anyone on this list that have done so and won ?
What will that accomplish really ? I dont know if working for this place will be a good idea anyway after filing a suit against them... but OTOH if it helps other people or at least if its out there on the net, so other companies wont get his brilliant idea....

Take a look at the pending 1-130 (Pref). Over 800k are pending and adjudication has been deferred in those cases. Those are FB cases for sure. Now if USCIS has deferred action in those cases, can we infer that all the 279k I-485 cases relate only to EB? Cant say for sure.
However as it was pointed out in another forum, Texas and Nebraska process only EB cases. In their cases, the rate of preadjudication is very high....over 90% in Texas. I cant fathom the Nebraska numbers.
The preadjudication numbers, in my opinion, are of the EB cases. The data, on the whole, needs to be explained by USCIS, better.

I do not want to spoil the fun and do truely appreciate the efforts by the IV team. But after sitting in the GC queue for 7 years, all my hopes nearly dead. Campaigns come and go but nothing ever happens.

When does the clock start for the FBI name check delay? In other words, when people say my name check is pending for 20 months, what exactly is the starting point....is it the day you file your 485?
