I didnt see any post wishing happy Eid/ Eid Mubarak nor did I notice last year that anyone wished a Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays, nor do we wish our Chinese friends a Happy Chinese New Year.

Spouse working - Yes, in theory they could allow H4 to work. However would that be any job? If so then the H4 would actually be far better off than the H-1B who is restricted by job category and employer qualification

If you look at THOMAS it actually shows that Yeas are 55 and Nays are 40
So the bill passed the voting ....
but it failed because it was ruled "out-of-order" and hence rejected ...
I dont know why it was ruled out of order ... maybe because it was attached to the defence spending bill so it was not the right place to put in this kind of amendment....
I hope that Yeas mean YES and Nay mean "NO" or I need to get my head examined

It wont happen again. after encashing I485 checks USICS will start I140 PP again to keep cashing money. once I140 backlog will be done then they will earn from EAD renewals.

Why not? Although I have applied for GC, I have no desire to take US citizenship, just to let you know. The majority does not mean the whole world and also does not mean everyone. There are Indian citizens that love India. Parents should be able to make decisions for their kids until they are 18. The kid can take US citizenship when he is 18 if parents have opted for Indian citizenship.
On a different angle, I would like to take US citizenship and I am actually waiting for it. Again, event this doesn't mean that I want to live here forever :D. I just want the convenience of coming here and working here as long as I want to, then pack the bag and go back to India to enjoy rest of of my life... I don't see that part of the life here.. :D

Trust me my friend, I have seen it happen all the time, from large Telecom firm to Govt., its always there, most of the consultants just doesn't come to know about it, but the cut for the managers is there in some form, almost always. Why do each manager has a specific vendor through whom they want to hire most of the time? What else is the reason for the client to pay the consulting company $180/hr but they won't give 'valueablehurdle' anything more than $50-60/hr?
On a different note, now that NSG approved the waiver, most desi uncles, some of them are also owners of desi consulting companies will claim that they are the father of Nuclear deal. These bastards (sorry for my french) always oppose any GC fix and they tell their favorite congressman/senator (each has atleast one favorite politician for whom they do fund raisers) that gc backlog is not an important issue for the community. India Abroad, Times of India, rediff and other desi portals/newspapers will write 'Oliver North' style stories about these desi uncles knowing well that companies like GE etc put their weight behind the deal as it will create commerce to commerce over $20 billion/yr. But desi uncles/orgs will not stop claiming to be the father of nuclear deal. The fact is, most of these desi uncles made noise not because they wanted to do something for their country of birth, they are doing it because they think that if the nuclear deal passes, they can play middle man for US companies to sell the technology/material to Indian companies/govt. Most of the so called 'united voice of Indian-Americans on the Hill' organization's goal is to make big bucks by playing 'middle man' for companies wanting to sell technology to India. And as always, just as 'valuablehurdle''s client (paying $180/hr) Indian govt. will pay double the cost. These desi companies have squeezed blood of people waiting for gc, but now they think its time to move on to play big game with the big boys. Is you bachelor and master degree in the same or related discipline? I read somewhere that the bachelors and master's will have to be in the same or related fields for it to be considered equivalent to US Masters degree.
Yes, my Bachelor and Master's are in same/related discipline. I think you can use any education evaluator but make sure that are aware of Indian Education System. We have responded to the RFE. I will post the outcome for the benefit for all.

Like I said earlier I pretty much feel the same way as you do. I want my spouse to be able to work for a couple of years before I think of moving back to India. But in reality having waited so many years do you think either you or myself will move back 2 years after getting the GC? Don't you think you will be tempted to wait 3 more years get the US citizenship and then move back? I have a few friends who are pretty much just waiting to get citizenship to move back. their argument is that we waited several years to get a GC and we don't want to just throw it away.
As for making H1B more humane I think it will never happen.
Most H1B holders get very good offers when they move back to their home countris after say 10 years. But the H4 spouse who spent al these years rotting in the USA again have to continue rotting....Their prospects are dim. So I want to get my GC. Let my spouse work here for couple of years and move back to my Own country.
So why not H1b made more HUMANE ?;) ;) ;)

I have seen lots of posts about pre-adjudication..how do we know if any case has been pre-adjudicated or not?...recently i got an RFE on my spouse case for Marriage Certificate and Birth certificate bonafide..there is no RFE on my case and had an FP done on 08/11/2009 second time and noticed soft LUD on my case on the day of FP...dose this means they are working on my case...:confused::confused:

Btw, if the visa bulletin is not out yet, its a good omen. Over the years it has been observed that whenever visa bulletin comes out a bit late, like between 13-15 of a month, it moves the dates quite a bit forward. The bulletins that come out early in the month, like before 10th day of the month, truly sucks.

I totally understand that reporters may skew facts to their specific needs and know first hand that the EB-3 category is retrogressed across all nationalities. I am one of your members that is not from either background mentioned.
I was responding to a post on this forum (and not the press in general) that implied that this issue affects people from specific ethnic backgrounds, which is false.
I do have a general issue that people seem to forget that.
I applaud all core member efforts, however negative this post seems.
