It is taking about 8 to 9 business days to process. This does not include the courier time. For my wife's passport we got it after two days because VFS handed the passport to Blue Dart after the cut off time at Chennai. We had our interview on 7th of Dec and we got our PP's on 20th and 22nd. I would not recommend any changes to the airline tickets until you get your PP in hand.

how about being a monthly charge of some amount to be members who can post/respond. Others can read but not post. This way you will know exactly how many paid members you have and amount you can expect monthly

(1) account maintenance fee: charge $1/month for maintaining the account, members who paid this fee will have read access to all threads except IV core updates. IV can generate $25K a month with this option, this can cover day to day expenses.

Anti immigration group targets all of the immigration. You can see numbersusa website. There are 2 reasons for the hate towards H1b and L1 program. Fraud and abuse is more in H1b. 20% was found by USCIS. Many fear it could be more. Mainly Indian bodyshopping and consulting companies are main reason. Another reason is many fear that H1b and L1 program is main reason outsourcing. Many big companies laid off US workers and did outsourcing to cut cost and they were asked to give Knowledge transfer to the onsite resources (those who are H1b or L1). Number of jobs in High skilled are very less (may be 2%) compared to low skilled in US. So they think 65k is more in percentage terms. US congress expects that H1b should be used only when no US Workers available. That is the reason there is no support at all at congress to increase H1b Cap. When they put a H1b restriction for TARP companies it was passed uniamously. So if we need EB reform just we need to disassociate or take neutral stand on H1b. They cannot remove H1b as it was with WTO.
I always wonder why give GC to 50k people regardless of their education experience and harass the 65K master degree/highly skilled tech worker ? All anti immigration group target H1B but rarely I see any opposition to GC lottery. It seems to me that due to media ( lou was one big guy ) has painted the H1B as the biggest enemy of job loss which is not true.

Unfortunately, country of birth for PD determination is one thing that cannot change. It is ridiculous that a country like the US that promotes itself as a meritocracy and a country of second chances ties the fate of EB applicants to such an immutable parameter.
I used to believe in and respect the so-called the American Dream. The more I stay here, the more I see its hypocrosy. ;)

After my AP approval notice email, all our(four) 485s got an LUD on Mar 31st 2009.
I applied AP only for myself and rest of the family did not.Service center is NSC. 485 recpt date is sept 11 2007.PD 2006 eb3/I. But we were issued one year EAD though eligible for 2 years since our PD is not current. Could it be because they sent 2nd FP notices? Are they sending FP notices for the second time these days? I heard some where that USCIS now can keep the FP notices valid for longer time than 15 months. We did ours in 2007 october. I know that USCIS has strange ways of dealing with things. But still....any insight is appreciated.

To raaj2007, just getting an EAD does not nullify your H1, but if you use EAD you loose H1. Go and check with your attorney. If you use EAD you cannot enter US using H1 or H4, you have to use Advance parole.

In that scenario you ask USCIS to send US consulate in India to send a notice that the principal applicant's 485 has been approved and since the marriage was before 485 approval, she should be called for Interview at the US consulate in India and given the immigrant VISA, The Follow to join process is like Consular Processing.

One thing I did notice was the comment "it is soon becoming the voice of rich and/or EB2 Indians only -- all other categories will either have no direct advantage with the efforts put in by IV, or they will actually see some negative effect from its activities. But that will be the case with any organization that claims to stand for a particular class. In reality, every core group will stand up for it and only itself."
Does someone care to explain this? I am EB3-ROW, I have occasionally donated and occasionally called but I don't think IV has ever HURT my case?
On a side note: just on the off chance that the comment is true and IV is truly a community of RICH Indians: can I borrow some money? :D :D The eay I look at it, if 50 of these rich, EB2 Indians give me $ 10,000 each, I can get my GC by investment and I will pay you all back in 2 years. :p

1) Removal of per-country quota: Claimed to be fair for everyone. Not really. It only helps Indians and Chinese. ROW will see a serious degradation in the time they will get their GCs. I am sure there will be lots of bashing based on this, but the fact of the matter is that such action is not suitable for non I/C applicants.
2) The Rich guy comment is based on the latest (supposedly supported by the CORE no less) action which is to ask for legislative changes if you have money to throw in to buy a house with 20% down.
So yes, I do stand by my statement that IV is devolving into less than general purpose immigration group.
I am EB3-India, yet I dont support the removal of per country limits, as there is a reason for the diversity rule, Indians and Chinese are currently on the wrong side of the equation so it seems "fair" to remove the quota.

For all of you who have got standard responses from USCIS, please do something about it. Call the local senator, file DHS-7001 with CIS Ombudsman, send a letter to USCIS secretary Napolatino, call TSC using POJ method, etc, etc.
If you are current, they need to look at your file. Case under review means nothing at all....my case was under review since July 20, 2009. Finally, i found out that my file was sitting in the storage and collecting dust.
As other previous posters have mentioned, you should try calling TSC/NSC on Thursday/Friday evening. I found out that the IOs were in a better mood, as compared to my calls on other days (specially in the morning/afternoon).
If you need details on the IO I talked to, I can provide it to you offline. I am still trying to reach that IO (need to say a big thank you) but have been unable to talk to him/her so far.
