I have a Mac Pro with that build. I've had no serious problems. The only odd thing is that sometimes when I when I go into date/time preferences dialog and try to change something in there the color wheel spins for a couple of minutes and then the controls in there don't work right. All the other system preferences appear to work normally. I've had no other problems. Even iTunes 7 works fine.
Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to an update. OS upgrades are always cool.
Ditto here. I have that build and the only problem I have experienced was yesterday, where I couldn't open Photoshop. It just bounced one time in the Dock and nothing else. I had to restart the machine. But, in the 2-3 weeks I have had my Mac Pro that's the only problem I found.
Anyway, 10.4.8 looks really interesting :)

I still don't understand making the effort in keeping a reverse switchers, let them make the mistake. The joy in seeing them suffer with Windows is well worth it.

That's because it is capacitive, meaning it is a surface that senses the ouch, not an actual button.
But it looks like someone masked over the circle and tried to overlay the square. I'm not saying it looks weird because it's capacitive - because that's just obviously different - but because it looks to have been altered.

Is there shown any RAW cameras supported in 1.5 that weren't in the current version? I wasn't up on that since mine was supported and that's all that mattered to me, but if there are new camera's supported it would point to 10.4.8 to be released later this week too.
the 'what's new' page says "Work with RAW images from more than 50 camera models, including the Fuji S2, Fuji S3 Pro, and Sony A100." but i don't know which ones exactly .. i know the Fujis are new because i have the S9000/9500 which is still not supported and it didn't support any Fujis before

Well, I'd like to get my hands on a DS, but cash is a bit tight. I'm hoping someone would be interested a trade for (or buy outright) a nice, older, PC.
- P3-1ghz,
- 256mb RAM,
- 10gb HDD (I can most likely dig up another 10-20gb HDD to add),
- CD-ROM (I have a CD-RW drive of unknown speed/quality I can include as well),
- NVidia TNT2 GPU,
- network card, modem, keyboard, mouse.
- I have a 19" CRT that I haven't used in awhile for someone local (in the Lansing, MI area).
- Has Win98, Office 97, and some other software if you want it (Visual -Basic, some older PC games), with licenses of course.
- Could also install pretty much any Linux variant for ya, if you wanted. I have Ubuntu on there right now.
- I would be happy to include a joystick (uses the old fashioned "game port") and/or a USB gamepad.
Figured it was worth a shot. :) Anyone who would be interested in CDs, VHS tapes, comic books (decent collection, including the full Superman Doomsday series), or some Star Wars "memorabilia" (toys still in packaging from the mid-90's re-release of the first 3 movies) in trade should PM for a list of those things as well!

Or how about the lack of pictures? This had photo op written all over it, but we the taxpayer only get one picture? I think the number of pictures were limited due to Steve Jobs current condition.

don't ask me! ask the EU about it. i don't make the regulations. but i can tell you this, they want a standard port for charging purposes and data transfer, so that you have to deal with fewer cables. it's not a bad idea, if you think about it.

And i still fold. The widget says i'm #58 @ 116 days from Dreadnought.
Make that 133 days! :D Too bad Virtual PC quit on me (and deleted my whole 10 GB windoos partition), because I have 2 finished WU's from my pc @ work (firewall at work blocks the up and download of wu's from Stanford), about 500 points worth! So Red_eye, first try and come close then we see if you've got what it takes to overtake me! :D

The iPhone 4 sported twice the RAM of the iPad. Perhaps the iPhone 5 also sports more RAM than the iPad 2.
In fact, maybe that's part of the reason for the push to September. To put more distance between the iPad and the iPhone so that iPad owners don't feel like their product is playing second fiddle to the iPhone (which it is).

Amen! Why not just release it Universal and check the other box when compiling?
Likely they are not using Xcode. If you have to maintain code that is Windows/Mac cross platform they may find it easier not to use Xcode.

right, and thats one of the concerns that folks have. But if Apple somehow manages to integrate one of these into a heatsink and put it right on a CPU's surface, there will no-doubt be a difference between the surface-temp of the CPU and the other side of the chip.
At how much of a loss in heatsink effectiveness? Heatsinks and heatsink gel are formulated to allow very high rates of heat transfer. You can't just stick a little piece of silicon in there (which will undoubtedly act as an insulator relative to the heat sink path) and expect the heat to still leave the processor.

This demonstrates that Adobe is a bunch of morons. If they listened to Apple and used xCode they could click one button and produce a universal binary.
Perhaps Adobe writes ****** software that isn't engineered to be platform independant.
it isn't that simple, especially if their code is as outdated as i've been reading it is. hell, i am working with the poisoned p2p developers and even we are having trouble making it a universal binary. it involves much more than just clikcing a box in most cases.

A solution is a solution no matter whether it's the Command Line or a GUI, besides that, a lot of apps also have a CLI equivalent, Property List Editor and defaults, Disk Utility and diskutil, Automator and automator, etc. So clearly articles involving Disk Utility would also need to include diskutil, and Automator would need to include it's CLI equivalent... not quite the same for the Plist editor and defaults I guess.
Then there is something like Quicksilver, which is kind of a mix between the GUI and the Terminal, well actually I'd go so far as to say it's an interface paradigm in itself. Then there are preference pane apps which aren't full GUI apps, codecs like Perian and WMV Components which also happen to have preference panes by the way, small utilities like Jumpcut which can function in either the GUI or the CLI via the same keyboard shortcut and just extend the clipboard, so it's really hard to create an artificial distinction between them, and then there are X11 apps, and what about online apps like Google Docs? I would like some help with creating an animated global nav. using flash. I looked around on google for a while and didn't find anything this specific. Anyone have a flash project they could send me so I could take a look at how you put it together? I am trying to create invisible buttons over a movie clip of the animation, but no luck so far. I can't figure out how to get a movie into the button? I am probably doing this all wrong, the provided tutorials only cover very basic things, already read them. I am familiar with the program because I have taken a course on after effects and illustrator. The programs have lots in common (AE&Illustrator vs. Flash). If you have any good tutorials on this thats cool too.

Hi all,
Does anyone have experience ripping audio from a concert DVD using VLC?
Whenever I use VLC using the "Open Disc" from the File tab and choosing the "Quicktime" encapsulation and only checking the audio transcoding option to mp3 (video transcoding is unchecked) it gives me a large file with both the video and sound. I only want to extract the audio so that I can play it on my ipod. Any help?

The u.s had the opportunity to thrive, especially after the cold war, but instead the country decided it would focus itself on wars, and therefore continue to spend more money than it could afford.
