Thank you for your correspondence, regarding electronic verification of H, L, O, P and Q petitions through the Petition Information Management Service (PIMS).
PIMS is now the sole source for confirmation that a NIV petition has been approved.
All questions regarding this new service should be directed to the Bureau of Consular Affairs� Public Inquiries Division of the State Department. You may contact them at the following numbers and e-mail addresses:
Fax Number: 202-663-3899
Public Inquiries: 202-663-1225
Public e-mails (automated replies only): usvisa@state.gov
In case we do receive the electronic verification an email will be sent to you regarding the same. Once you receive the mail you will need to submit your documents to the VFS. We regret we cannot give any timeframe regarding the completion of this process. I hope this information has been helpful to you.

Sorry to say, this new system has been designed and implemented not taking into consideration,how it is impacting all the applicants. There is no timelines which are published for cases like ours. In short the new system will delay things.

I read on the murthy.com website that the UCSIS needs to go through the Kentucky Consular Center to obtain the PIMS verification. The number for the KCC is 606-526-7500. I am going to try and call them to see if they can give me any information on timelines.
For those people that have not left the US yet, it might be worth it to talk to your lawyers and see if there is any way you can have your names added to this database before you travel - that should eliminate any hassles once you leave the country. Much easier to try and do it from there rather than from here.
There is no number to call here to check on status - I have been sending emails to mumbaiNIV@state.gov but have not received any response from them yet. Not really a surprise. If anyone tries the number above and gets some response please let the rest of us know.

If companies could survive with GCs and Citizens alone, they would have done it already. The fact is there aren't enough quality resources to be picked from GC/Citizen pool. That is the reason companies are willing to deal with complex immigration laws for hiring a non-immigrant worker.
Of course companies will look for cheaper and easier ways of doing things.( outsourcing route) I agree with puddonhead that threshold for outsourcing is low in these times. Vast majority of outsourcing was initiated during the last recession ( 2000- 2001).

it looks like many folks got their approval one day after filing an SR - coincidence or a trigger? Is filing the SR somehow triggering the IOs to look at your file ?
However, many people who filed SR on the first working day of the month 08/02 were not approved the next day. Also, the many others who bombarded the USCIS with multiple requests/queries had to wait much longer or are still waiting.
It is almost like the IOs didn't like to be bothered on the first working day of this month (when the begin working on a fresh set of files) and also didn't like to be pushed too much.
Or is this all just a super coincidence for hundreds of people?

Please don't give much credence to 'conspiracy theory' posts by paranoid folks like H1bmajdoor who live in fear of their own shadows. On another front, if this actually does happen, I will be the first person to sue USCIS for all the expenses, lost time and headaches that I incurred in preparing the 485 application...I think USCIS can't get away without reimbursing everyone for all of the above...

Maybe we can use the H-1 B reform bill, to recapture unused visas during the last many years. Make H-1 B tough but at the same time, release those green card numbers. Carrot and Stick approach.

H1/L1 restrictions are not going to encourage american kids. It does not impact their thinking. Maths, science are tougher subjects for kids. Kids in India were pushed by their parents to study science in search for a good career. Kids here have a lot other avenues which are more attractive to a kid. Kids do not understand L1/H1. 90% of adult population here does not understand H1/L1. REstricting H1/L1 will not influence a kid to take up science and engineering.

I raised an SR on 8/25/2009. I got a response that my "case was being actively processed, allow 60 days for a decision to be made". I kept calling uscis, every CSR told me the same thing "wait until Oct 25, and then raise another SR". I got the CPO email on 10/22.
As I mentioed in the previous posts, though I tried Senator, Ombudsman, calls thru my lawyer, I beleive that SR is the one that makes the IOs take a case out of a whole bunch and keeps it in the queue for approval.

My LC was stuck in backlog centers when perm labor applications was being approved left, right and centre�
